About Ray

Ray Chung

I am a University of Sydney student and I have been tutoring Years 7 to 12 for three years. I finished Year 12 with an ATAR of 98.85.

One of my first students came to me in Year 7 getting C's in English. They had good ideas, but their responses read as summaries rather than arguments, so their teacher couldn't find a clear thesis.

In our first session we found they hadn't yet learned how to build a paragraph around analysis instead of retelling. Within one term, their report grade had gone from a C, the middle grade, to an A, the top grade, finishing on 95%.

That first session was the free diagnostic, and it's how I start with every student.

How I work

  • We start with a free 30-minute diagnostic to find the gaps.
  • Your plan follows your child's school program and assessment dates.
  • Sessions are 2 hours by default, long enough to go deep. Times are flexible and matched to each student.
  • Sessions are online over Google Meet, one-on-one or in pairs.
  • Term students get notes after every session and message support in between.
  • Term Plus adds marked practice papers and a parent progress summary at weeks 5 and 10.
